We are excited to share that Dr. Despina Siolas has been awarded a 2025 Pilot Grant from the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (PICI) and the Weill Cornell Medicine Meyer Cancer Center. This competitive funding supports her innovative project titled “Gut microbiota control of immune suppression in colorectal cancer liver metastases” and features collaborations with Dr. Manish Shah and Dr. Greg Sonnenberg.
This work aims to explore how microbial populations in the gut influence immunotherapy resistance in metastatic colorectal cancer, with the goal of identifying new strategies to restore anti-tumor immunity and enhance immunotherapy responsiveness.
The Siolas Lab is honored to be part of this year’s outstanding cohort of pilot and career development awardees, who are leading pioneering research across multiple cancer types. We thank PICI and WCM for their continued support of translational cancer research and precision immunotherapy.
Stay tuned for research updates and new collaborations as this exciting project moves forward.
